Electronic cigarette liquid (liquid, eliquid, juice, ejuice) is a specially-made fluid that is used when vaping, you cannot vape without it. The liquid is vaporized and then inhaled. Eliquids come in many forms and flavors, they vary in terms of flavour/taste, throat hit, and nicotine levels (you can choose your own nicotine level).

Eliquids have three main ingredients:

Nicotine While there are eliquids without nicotine, most liquids come in many different nicotine levels. The stimulant in tobacco, nicotine is the result of combustion, ie. when a cigarette burns. With electronic cigarettes, nicotine is released when e-liquid is atomized into vapor, there is no burning.

Aroma Aromas give eliquids taste. Pure nicotine does not have a taste so aromas are added. The result is an experience that can either taste and feel like a real cigarette or an apple pie, a Cuba Libre or even cactus fruit.

Diluent Propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) are used in liquids for two reasons: to adjust the relative strengths of nicotine and flavouring and to transmit nicotine and flavours through vapour. PG and VG is important in changing eliquid strength, also in determining how much vapor it gives.

PG is short for propylene glycol. It is used to make eliquids and has a very neutral taste. Liquids with higher propylene glycol concentrations will be felt harder on the throat. VG is vegetable glycerin, another compound also used in making ejuice. When vegetable glycerin is high, the vapor is thicker and sweeter. PG and VG are classified as generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

A throat hit, also known as a throat kick, is how the vapor feels on the throat. It is one of the most important parts a good vape and can be light, medium or strong.
